Gary Tanguay

Back to it…
Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at 9:04 pm ET

Hope you all of you had a great holiday. Felger said during the commercial break between the c and d blocks that the best thing about Christmas is it is over. The three ghosts have to visit that dude. If they did he would probably scare them off.

Felger also drew the line in the sand with our producer Kevin Miller regarding our trip to spring training. Felgy stated that his 3 year old daughter Emma would have a spell over Kevin’s 4 year old son, Jack. According to Felgy Emma will be dragging Jack around by his nose. We shall see…Jack is a pretty independent fellow and a wiz at WII golf. Jack needs to make his dad bring the wii to Fort Myers. Then he will have the advantage over Emma.

My kids? My daughter will be at the arts and crafts table and my son will be attempting back flips into the pool from the third floor balcony.

Our coverage begins Feb. 16th from Fort Myers. Once again, the players and pundits will be with us live poolside at the Pink Shell Resort and Spa on Fort Myers Beach.

Poor little Emma pleading with Felger about her love for Christmas on WEEI was one of the best sound clips of the year. A close second to Vrabel attacking Mike for interviewing him with a cold.

These are taken from just one of many local message boards that have touched on how much Tanguay annoys all… why he is on tv is beyond me

Greg Dickerson would do better play by play than Gary Tanguay. That’s sad.

I did not enjoy Garys announcing at all. I was sick in bed and could not tell what was going on when I wanted to just listen and close my eyes. My biggest gripe is that he will yell players names and then he wont say anything after it……

Example: Mike: Pierce with the hard dunk
    Gary: Pierce!

Mike: Rondo hits the open J for 2
    Gary: Rondo!

Also, Gary has a habit of getting hyped for the smallest of plays..

    “PIERCE FOR THE (uncontested) LAYUP!!!!”

    “RONDO DRIBBLES BETWEEN HIS LEGS!!”

Please keep tongue tied Tanguay out of the booth!

He really does make watching the games difficult with his hyping up every play.

The other thing that irks me is every time Tommy says something remotely funny (and most of the time it’s not) Gary laughs hysterically and loud.

Tanguay on play by play is cringe worthy. Bump up Grande instead of this clown.

Yes. That bothered me the most. He makes Ed McMahon look self-respecting.

I think it’s very important to hear the number of fouls a player has after EVERY SINGLE FOUL CALL. Pertinent or not, if your inflection makes it sound important it must be.

3rd foul for a bench guy at the start of the 4th? We need to know this. It may affect the outcome.

And AK47 is awesome. 5th highest scoring total for bench players in the league. He should put that up in his locker.

And I’d have to take issue with some of you. His laughter and enthusiasm do not sound contrived or forced at all.
Not one bit. Tanguay is terrible …

Gary Tanguay sounds like he’s never played a game of basketball in his life. Guy gets excited over simple layups.

I couldn’t help bu laugh when he would go crazy for a fairly routine play…overall, I’d rate him at an F-
