The Celtics have given it a good ride considering the adversity they faced this season, but as of tonight, the season is over.  Unfortunately, it’s at the hands of the Orlando Magic and not the Cavaliers and the moral victory theory is out the window.  Doc Rivers alluded to more than the known injuries in his postgame press conference and Kevin Henkin joins Justin Poulin for the wrap.  Upset over the effort on defense in the loss, Kevin and Justin share in their dissapointment and bowl of sour grapes.  We also ponder whether it is feasible for Dwight Howard to daydream….at night.

Another Game 7 despite this being the first game without a slow start for the Celtics in this series.  The Magic spotted Boston an advantage by missing free throws at an alarming rate, but the Celtics doubled down with turnovers.  Tom Halzack and Jon Duke join Justin Poulin and touch upon a number of topics from the game including the refs, Glen Davis’ overdribbling on the block, Dwight Howard’s mouth and whether or not his game truly backed it up tonight.  Paul Pierce got props once again, especially for forcing Dwight Howard into two crucial fouls, and the podcap ends with an in-depth analysis of players like Pietrus who has been James Posey for the Magic in this series.

Wow, how did they pull that one off?! The Celtics MO all season against the Magic has been putting forth a menial effort until the fourth quarter and then mounting a comeback.  After failing to pull off a 28-point comeback earlier in the series, Boston stakes the Magic a 14-point lead before Stephon Marbury and Glen Davis ignited a 4th quarter effort en route to victory (finishing the game on a 17-3 run).  Once again it is written that the Magic have no one that they can rely on in the clutch, not after Rafer "Airball" Alston who played as well as the Celtics played poorly through the first 3+ quarters before the final 5 minutes.  Doc Rivers also coached a good game and was prepare this time to foul the Magic before they were able to get off a shot beyond the arc to send the game into overtime.  The fanbase thanks you!  Kevin Henkin and Jack Jemsek join Justin Poulin for the podcap.

The Celtics almost let the series slip from their hands after building a 9-point lead before Paul Pierce was called for his 4th foul in the third quarter.  Five quick points by the Magic to start the 4th quarter got them within 3 points and the Celtics didn’t score a field goal for 7+ minutes until Glen Davis hit the first of two jumpers to close out the game.  Of course, it was the second of which that had Mainers everywhere leaping from their seats (we got your back Gary).  The Magic found their go-to-guy in Courtney Lee who was 2-2 from mid-range (one amazing shot over some superb defense from Paul Pierce) and took a 91-90 lead, but he missed his next attempt and Orlando should probably have looked more in Lewis’ direction who was sent to the line for the final 2 points of the game for Orlando, while Paul Pierce was searching for calls that never came (except against him).  The highlight of the night was Bill Russell’s congratulations for Glen Davis following the game winner and Thomas Halzack joins Justin Poulin for all the analysis and celebration.

The Celtics rebound from yet another atrocious Game 1 performance to take Game 2, this time in convincing fashion.  Rajon Rondo with another triple double, Eddie House with 31 points on 11-14 shooting, Kendrick Perkins matching if not outperforming Dwight Howard, and Paul Pierce with some much needed rest playing just under 16 minutes due to foul trouble.  Justin Poulin and Jack Jemsek have all the analysis in another podcap.

For the second straight series, Game 1 goes to the bad guys and the Celtics fork over homecourt advantage.  A lackluster effort in the first half left the Celtics trailing by 18 at the break.  The Magic extended that lead to 28 early in the third quarter before Boston found some gas in the reserve tank and pulled back on the throttle.  They climbed to within 4 points late in the 4th quarter and played some solid defense, but the offensive execution just wasn’t there tonight and they squandered a handful of opportunities when they needed them most.  On the one hand you want to credit the Magic for playing defense, and on the other hand you want to acknowledge the single day off following a grueling series with the Bulls or the type of ball movement that leads to repeated Paul Pierce isolation plays.  Kevin Henkin joins Justin Poulin for the podcap.

Game 7..for all the marbles.  The gas light came on halfway through the fourth for both teams, but thanks to the Bulls missing shots when they had their opportunities, the Celtics coasted downhill to the victory.  One wonders if either team could have survived another overtime period.  Jim "JB" Metz was in attendance for the game and joins Justin Poulin for the recap.  All season long, Doc has preached that the defense will create offense and on this night, for the first time in this series, we saw that happen.  The outlet passing following defensive stops set the tone for the Celtics after falling behind 9-2 to the Bulls at the outset.
